Hey guys, I'm a huge fan of B-action/martial arts movies, wanted to share some of my faves and see what you guys have seen.
King of the Kickboxers - this is a pretty violent and surprisingly dark movie; one of the characters (played by Billy Blanks, the Taebo guy!)
was confirmed by Capcom as being the inspiration for Deejay
Only the Strong - Extremely cheesy, early 90's "after school special" type of movie where a teacher tries to
help inner-city wayward youth succeed/escape gang life. This film is cool though because, as far as I know, it's the only martial arts movie to have
Capoeira as the central force propelling it.
Rapid Fire - Balls to the wall, no-frills action movie starring the late Brandon Lee. I honestly don't remember all the details to the plot,
but Brandon Lee's character gets mixed up with a drug dealer/mafioso guy by accident, and then he's tapped by the FBI to help them
bring him down. The action scenes are awesome, especially the one in Lee's apartment; highly recommended!
TC 2000 - This is a weird one lol. Billy Blanks is in this this one, but this time he's a futuristic officer of some kind of peacekeeping/police
unit thingy that protects an underground city against the "surface dwellers" who weren't able to escape to the underground during the last
nuclear war. The film revolves around Blanks and some friends slowly discovering corruption within their organization and thwarting their sinister
plot. The action is decent, but this movie is hilarious because its VERY low budget. It looks like all the money went into the computer effects, and
most of the villains/heroes are wearing poorly painted sports equipment as armor. Also the whole thing takes place in what looks like an industrial
park.
