The Sega Saturn is one of my favorite consoles of all time, and I like it much more than the PSOne and think it should have outsold said console. One of the reasons I love the Saturn more than the PSOne is because it is easier to play imports on it. There were a few Neo Geo games ported to the Saturn, and I own three of them. King of Fighters 96, Real Bout Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown IV. These were all japanese only releases, BUT, if you play them on an american or european console, it will load the games in english and they function as if they were the MVS/AES versions. I thought this was a neat feature these ports had! For the most part they are true to the original versions with only some very mild differences, like in Samurai Shodown IV, after you perform a fatality move, the color gradient behind the character you are playing as in the splash screen it shows after finishing the opponent off where they say their win quote is different. However, from what I researched, unlike other Saturn imports, not all of them will work on an american or european console by simply using an Action Replay. All of these games came with RAM carts. Of the three I have, only KOF96 comes with its RAM cart. Anyway, you can just use the Action Replay to play most of them whether you have the RAM cart or not, but the Saturn port of King of Fighters 95 comes with a special kind of RAM cart that the game cannot be played without, and the Action Replay won't work with it, so the only way you can play it is if you own a japanese Saturn console. Just to clear up the confusion, KOF96 DOES work with the Action Replay, but not KOF95. At any rate, I just wanted to share my appreciation for these Saturn ports and how most of them function as if they were the MVS/AES originals you were playing and how neat it was. They also released a Saturn port of the original Metal Slug, but it's crazy expensive.
