Hello!
I started my AES collection with biggest interest in the early games and not so much the fighters, as I had already experienced some KOF, SS and FF in arcades or on the Sega Saturn, and wanted to explore what else the Neo Geo could offer, but now I find all genres interesting. I’m still hopeless at the fighting games though, they’re all too difficult for me…
First of all, thanks’ to all who worked on and still works with this new forum, and thank you Merlin and Priest for letting me know about it!
I was a member of the old NGFL-site and I believe it was Priest who made me join, around 2012 if I remember correctly.
I bought my AES a couple of months earlier and it was great to find a place like NGFL as the only other forum about Neo I knew about was that “maybe not so friendly to newcomers-place”, and I didn’t want to register there.
I’ve read some of the others presentations and I understand it’s appreciated to tell about your first memories of the Neo-Geo, so here comes mine, but I guess it’s a pretty common story and not that exciting.
I remember a demonstration tower in my local toyshop, showing off Ninja Combat. It looked amazing to me but I knew I was never going to be able to afford it. I was about 9 or 10 years old at the time, so yeah, good luck saving up for a Neo and games haha! I was very happy with my Mega Drive so I had great times anyway, but it was always something extra to play or see some arcade games when going to a amusement park or where they still had some arcade machines.
First time I saw Sound Beach in Fatal Fury I thought it was the best I’ve ever seen, and now some 30 years later I still think the backgrounds in SNKs fighting games are fantastic. I seriously consider buying some games for the art in them and to be able to play them is just a big bonus.
Anyway, nice to se the forum again!
