First of all, I want to give some words of appreciation for Karnov's Revenge (also known as Fighter's History Dynamite).
It could be often overlooked for plenty of reasons (e.g. questionable reputation for the previous game in series, or the fact that Neo-Geo has a big number of more important/exciting fighters).
However, it's a pretty nice game (and impressive improvement over the predecessor) that deserves attention or even could be a possible favorite for some people.
In the recent years it got more recognition and respect for some reason (but it deserves that). I personally know people who participated in community, mostly via Fightcade (main benefit is rollback netcode and ability to save replays). And on top of that, several fighting enthusiast circles in Japan were keeping the things moving. Even (famous) Mikado game center has a playlist of FHD tournaments.
Here is one of the videos I enjoyed to watch:
Personally, I'm not that much a fan of the game, but it's fun to play from time to time. And there is certain charm to the characters (especially Karnov himself, of course) and stages.
Now, if anyone is curious, here is a pretty good multiple page guide that goes in-depth with mechanics: wiki.supercombo.gg/w/Fighter%27s_History_Dynamite
As for my choice... that would be between Street Hoop and Magical Drop III. Both are amazing! Street Hoop's gameplay gives me adrenaline all the time, and the soundtrack is fantastic. Meanwhile Magical Drop III is pretty much a pinnacle of the series with addicting game modes and tons of characters (including secret ones).
I think for this poll I'll go with Street Hoop as I was playing it more recently (thanks to "sports games on Neo-Geo" thread, ha-ha). Meanwhile I've just found this helpful website that teaches how to play Magical Drop III, so I'll leave it here in case someone would like check out: www.playmagicaldrop.com/
About remaining titles. Spinmaster, perhaps, would not be my favorite platform game for Neo-Geo, but it looks lovely and has plenty of cool ideas. Windjammers is not my cup of tea a bit (Bang Bead feels closer to my heart), but I know many people adore it. Magical Drop II is simpler than sequel, but still enjoyable.
Overall, Data East output for the system was pretty nice.
